Torques and Moments of Inertia Models for Horizontal Axis Hydrokinetic Turbine Driveline

The quantification of torques and moments inertia horizontal axis hydrokinetic turbine driveline is important to precisely predict the dynamic behavior complete system. Initially, this paper presents different models used in literature for describing components. A model a small using belt transmission developed. uses Blade Element Momentum (BEM) determining power coefficient rotor considers inertial effects dissipative whole system some torque described previously. results dynamical are compared with experimental data, showing good agreement. In order numerically analyze more efficient drivetrain, replaced by planetary gearbox model, new also assessed. As result, it was found that gears, compact can be used, reducing effects, which brings better efficiency starting machine shortening transient regime time.
